Neighbours Enjoy Summer BBQ

Okno residents enjoyed a community BBQ tonight. A block of Lilac Dr was closed to traffic and over eighty people brought their lawn chairs out onto the street. Featuring hamburgers and hot dogs and finishing with ice cream, the event was a hit with the locals.

In a discussion regarding Okno matters, residents were pleased to hear of plans for developing a community park. The Okno Community Committee has reserved one of the lots in the new subdivision for this purpose. The goal is to be fundraising throughout the coming winter and then have shovels in the ground next summer.

Phase 1 of the park will include purchasing the lot, seeding lawn, constructing a play structure, and adding picnic tables. The many young families of Okno will enjoy this site, and it is sure to add value to the village life.

Tonight's BBQ served to help neighbours become more acquainted with each other. The warm summer evening was lovely along the shaded street and provided a pleasant atmosphere for visiting. Certainly this should become an annual tradition.
